Cake Pop Recipe

Since so many people asked for the recipe, I figured the easiest way was to post it here.

Birthday Cake Pops

Ingredients:

One box cake mix (white)
One can of frosting (I used a whipped cream cheese)
Pink chocolate melts
Cake pop sticks

Directions:

First you must make the cake per the box instructions.  I used the egg white directions so that my cake was white.

Bake the cake and then let it cool completely.

Once it is cooled, crumble it in a bowl.  Make sure that you have no big pieces.  This is best done with your hands.

After you crumble the cake, add in one heaping spoonful of frosting.  REMEMBER you can always add more if the cake is not "wet" enough.  Once again using your hands to mix is the best way to know when you have enough frosting.  You want to be able to shape balls but not have them to sticky.

Once you are able to shape the cake into balls place them on a cookie sheet, lined with wax paper, and put in the freezer for a few hours.

After your cake balls are frozen you will be able to dip them in the chocolate.

Melt your chocolate. (in the microwave or double boiler)

To secure the stick to the ball, it is best to dip one end in the chocolate before you insert it in to the dough.  Once you have the stick in the ball you are able to dip it in the chocolate.  If need be use a knife to smooth out any bumps that maybe in the chocolate.  Before the chocolate cools you can add sprinkles.

I have a holder for my cake pops, so I just inserted the sticks in it for the chocolate to harder completely.  If you don't have one don't worry a block of Styrofoam works just as well.

Once all the balls have been covered in chocolate and cooled you are able to wrap them up or serve them up!!!!!  If you don't eat them all it is recommended to store them in an air tight container.  (I put mine in the refrigerator as well)

Well I hope that this helps you all make AWESOME cake pops!!!! I am totally going to try different flavor combinations of cake and frosting but for the knockoff Starbucks Birthday Cake Pops these were pretty much an exact match : )
